Strategic Plan Case Study

Our client was a $32M specialty manufacturer located in Phoenix, Arizona. They had a new executive team which was focused on improving bottom line performance. The company was highly regarded as a business partner but internally, the cost of operating the business was very high.  The company had grown without using human resources as a competitive advantage.  None of the major HR systems were aligned with the business process or customer satisfaction.  There were major safety issues, manufacturing and sales did not share any information or data bases, compensation programs were de-linked from performance and staff turnover was 310%.

Birchtree was engaged to create to create an HR strategic plan that would effectively increase the financial performance of the company by reducing costs and improving operating efficiency.   In addition we were asked to coach both the HR and leadership team in human resources strategy.

Birchtree spent three days on site, interviewing both business leaders as well as production staff using our SSSHR© proprietary HR diagnostic. We created a simple, but comprehensive HR strategic plan that linked total rewards, performance management, staffing, training, safety and HRIS systems directly to the business strategy with metric measures and milestones.  We identified significant cost and spending inefficiencies along with process improvements which were embraced and implemented by management and employees.
